Not not to worry ..... the ice is only getting thicker around here.
We are now in a lockdown situation due to Covid 19 so I guess I can put in some hours on the boat and social distance in my garage.
I am equating the building of this boat to the similarities of building a house. I have built two houses and did a major renovation on another house so I have a good idea of what it takes to construct a larger project. There is a point in time during the construction of a house where it looks like everything is going up pretty fast and then it seems like everything comes to a grinding halt once the shell is framed. Visually it seems like nothing is getting done but in reality all of the hidden time and effort is being put into the house for example electrical, plumbing and all of the finishing work etc. Well, the construction of this boat is a very similar visual situation. If someone was to look at what is actually complete inside the boat since it's been flipped upright, it may appear that things are going very slowly. In reality there has been a lot of planning, consideration and execution. I have been trying to think of all the different scenarios of what I really want to use this boat for and trying to get the most out of the space that I have in this small vessel. And, apparently, that takes a lot of time hahaha!
As much as I wanted to complete the decking and get going on other bits on the outside of the boat I had to slow myself down and concentrate on the completion of the interior. To be honest the finishing work inside is really not my favorite especially the prepping and coating of all of the woodwork. I guess I'm more of a construction guy as opposed to a finishing guy. I think maybe I've said that before somewhere !
I have been trying to tell myself that the finishing work is actually part of the construction process and that has made it a bit easier.
So as I sit here this morning in the cabin of the boat, I am getting ready to burn up some more sandpaper and get on with this finishing stuff !
The pictures below are of the bunk backs that are ready to install and also a couple of shots of the filleting that has been completed before final coating.
All the best in the new year!
Cheers!!
